A Bahrain events, exhibitions, interiors and media company had an instant half a million-dollar bonus after staging a successful show … instant being the apt word!
For it was ‘here one minute and gone the next’ for ColoursBahrain after it was inadvertently overpaid for the work its team had carried out for a major international brand.
General manager Noel George explained that an invoice for BD2,122 had been delivered to its client’s regional office and he was delighted to find the company’s bank account swiftly reimbursed for a promotional job well done at two of the kingdom’s malls … to the tune of BD212,000 (around $562,000).
“For an instant I had dreams of being sent one of the flashy no-limit bank corporate charge cards!” he said. “But reality soon struck home and we did the needful and let them know of the mistake.”
The red-faced accounts department of the company concerned, which the GDN is not naming at its request to save embarrassment, admitted it would have noticed the discrepancy eventually but was grateful to have the overpayment returned so swiftly.
Honesty pays too, as the brand has promised to use ColoursBahrain again the next time it needs a promotional campaign.
