HORSERACING – RASHID Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) will be hosting a two-day Eid Al Fitr Festival tomorrow and Friday, featuring a number of valuable cups.
The event is set to be held as part of the kingdom-wide celebrations of Eid Al Fitr, and the programme on both days will include night races.
Action begins from 5.30pm tomorrow and then from 4pm on Friday.
Tomorrow’s feature race will be the Majid Rashid Alzayani Cup, a 2,000-metre event for imported horses carrying BD4,000 in prize money.
A field of six is declared for this event, to be racing for top owners such as Victorious, Al Khaldiya, Al Mohamediya Racing, Al Afoo Racing, and Al Mallah Racing.
There will also be the Late Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa Cup for imported horses and the REHC Cup for local breeds, both of which offer BD3,000 in winnings.
These three races headline tomorrow’s nine-race card.
Meanwhile, on Friday, eight races will be held, with the Late Mr Abdulla Ahmed Nass Cup, sponsored by Nass Corporation and AA Nass and Sons, to be the feature.
This 1,400m challenge for imported horses offers a whopping BD10,000 in prize money.
There is a high-quality field of 10 runners declared for this event. The top stables are once again being represented, including Victorious, Al Mohamediya, Al Afoo, and Al Adiyat Racing, and other owners including Fawzi Nass and Hasan Mefareh Alajmi.
There will be three other cups up for the taking, including the Sarens Nass Cup and the Royal Golf Club Cup, both for imported horses and each carrying BD4,000 in winnings, and the Applied Science University Cup, also with imported runners who will battle for the BD3,000 prize.
