Omani author Maimoona Al Wahibiya has been named among eight Arab candidates in a vote to choose the most beautiful woman in politics, culture and humanitarian work and other areas, according to Shabiba newspaper.
Russian Sputnik News Agency nominated Ms Al Wahibiya, author of a book titled Beauty of the Soul, in which she calls for peace to prevail between human beings.
The list also includes Syrian First Lady Asma Al Assad, Queen Rania of Jordan, Saudi journalist Mona Abu Suleiman, Emirati Shaikha Manal Al Maktoum, Moroccan Princess Lalla Salma, Palestinian singer and composer Rim Banna and Lebanese MP Strida Geagea.
Sputnik holds the vote online to choose women who combine both beauty and brains. An online contest has already been held to crown the most beautiful Russian lawmaker in the Douma.
