STOCKHOLM - The kit-man for Swedish table-toppers AIK picked up an unusual yellow card in his side's 1-0 win at Oster as a touchline row over towels boiled over during the first half of their league clash on Sunday.
AIK materials manager Hakan Sjoberg regularly places towels along the sidelines so that his players can dry the ball before attempting their long throw-ins, but against Oster they kept disappearing during the first half - and when Sjoberg left the dugout to replace them, a row broke out.
"'Can I have my towel back?', I said. But I didn't get it, so we started arguing, me and (Oster coach) Martin Foyston," the fiery Sjoberg revealed, and as tempers flared he was subsequently shown a yellow card for leaving the AIK technical area.
"Now I've got like 45 messages on my phone ... it was crazy. As long as it wasn't red, because I've gotten them too often," he added.
Oster boss Foyston was none too pleased with Sjoberg following a defeat for his side that saw AIK move to the top of the table with 10 points after four games.
"I don't think we should allow them to hang their laundry in our home arena - they can do it in their arena, but we shouldn't allow it here," he said brusquely in a post-match interview.
Sjoberg's side had the last laugh as Bersant Celina struck the winner in the 80th minute after Oster failed to clear a set-piece; unfortunately, the kit-man could not claim any credit for the goal as it came following a free kick, rather than a long throw.
