VOLLEYBALL – AlL Ahli and Muharraq are set for a thrilling, winner-take-all battle tonight in the third and final game of their best-of-three championship series in the 2024-25 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
The title-clinching contest will be played at Isa bin Rashid Volleyball Arena, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa. It is scheduled for a revised start time of 6pm, the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) announced yesterday. The BVA decided to move the game ahead by an hour from its originally scheduled start of 7pm due to a conflict in timing with another sport involving one of the two finalists, the BVA said in a statement.
Ahli were able to force tonight’s rubber match after beating Muharraq in four sets in game two on Saturday. Muharraq had previously taken game one on Wednesday last week but could not close things out in the follow-up clash.
This evening’s game is expected to attract a large crowd supporting both clubs.
Aside from the Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League title, this season’s national champions will earn the right to represent the kingdom in the AVC Men’s Champions League, which will be played May 11 to 18 in Japan. The Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) competition will feature 12 champion teams from across the continent.
The Bahraini champions will play in Pool D for the tournament’s opening phase, alongside Al Rayyan of Qatar and Sport Training Centre Three of Vietnam.
The AVC Men’s Champions League offers a cool $50,000 in prize money, along with two berths in the 2025 FIVB Club World Championship this December.
