NETBALL – THE Dilmun Club Seals have been crowned division one champions of the 2024-25 Bahrain Netball League.
The Seals secured the title after completing their season schedule with a 24-15 victory over the Rugby Club Jaguars.
That triumph sealed their hold on first place overall on the division one standings, where they ranked ahead of the Jaguars, who finished as vice-champions.
The Top Shots Shakers came away as third-placers, while the Dilmun Club Pearls were fourth, the Rugby Club Tigers were fifth, and the British Club Rubies sixth.
“I’m honoured to have captained the Dilmun Club Seals again this season,” the Seals’ victorious skipper Stacey Clarke told the GDN.
“Our goal was to remain undefeated and win the title. Despite facing multiple injuries and needing to restructure our team along the way, we had the opportunity to play against some amazing teams, and we ended the season with a thrilling final against the Rugby Club Jaguars.
“The entire team’s dedication to training and honing their netball skills was extraordinary, and it played a crucial role in achieving our objective.
“We are proud to end the season as champions.”
Dilmun Club had twice the reason to celebrate as they ended this campaign with two title-winning squads as the Palms were crowned champions of division two.
The Palms were 31-8 winners against the Rugby Club Panthers in their concluding league fixture. The Panthers thus placed as division two runners-up.
Taking third were the Top Shots Slammers, while in fourth were the Rugby Club Pumas and in fifth the NEC Diamonds.
In division three, the Rugby Club Wildcats were this season’s winners. Their last assignment saw them beat the Top Shots Strikers 23-3.
The Dilmun Club Springs took second place in their category, followed by the Dilmun Club Dunes in third and the Top Shots Shooters in fourth, while the Strikers took fifth overall.
Bahrain Netball director Khulood Sabah expressed her pride with the success of another national campaign and praised the league’s squads for their efforts.
“As we wrap up another exciting season of the Bahrain Netball League, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the teams that participated,” Sabah said. “Your hard work and athleticism have truly shone throughout the season.
“A special thank you goes to the Bahrain Netball Board members who dedicated countless hours to ensure the success of this season. Your commitment and effort are greatly appreciated.
“I also want to congratulate all the division winners on their outstanding performances. Your talent and determination have set a high standard for the league.”
A total of 16 teams across three divisions competed this past season in the Bahrain Netball League. The squads were from four prominent clubs on the island, including Dilmun Club, Bahrain Rugby Football Club, The British Club, and Top Shots, alongside the sponsored NEC Diamonds.
With the league campaign now wrapped up, Bahrain Netball are now looking ahead to their participation in the 2025 Inter-Gulf Netball Championships, which will be taking place in the UAE at the end of the month.
“We are focused and motivated in training as we prepare for our participation in the GCC Inter-Gulf Championships in Abu Dhabi,” added Sabah.
“Let’s continue to strive for excellence together!”
