His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasised that Bahrain Sports Day reflects the kingdom’s vision of establishing sports as a way of life, fostering a culture of physical activity and well-being.
Shaikh Nasser noted that, under the leadership of His Majesty and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain prioritises sports as a key pillar of human development and quality of life.
He emphasised that the day offers a key opportunity for generations to engage in sports, reinforcing its role as a fundamental pillar of a healthy and productive society.
Shaikh Nasser also highlighted the pivotal role played by SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in promoting inclusive sports programmes and activities.
Shaikh Nasser commended participants for their enthusiasm, noting that the widespread engagement reflects Bahrain’s commitment to sports as a means of promoting health, unity, and social cohesion.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Khalid attended the Bahrain Sports Day celebrations yesterday at Sama Bay in the Muharraq Governorate. Also on hand were a number of top officials from ministries and government offices, sporting officials, heads of federations, clubs, youth centres, and many more.
The Bahrain Sports Day festivities included a series of sports activities, featuring more than 30 sports and various competitions along with plenty of family entertainment.
Shaikh Khalid stressed that Bahrain Sports Day has become a national occasion that reflects the importance of sports in society and enhances awareness of its importance in people’s lives.
Shaikh Khalid expressed his sincere thanks to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his approval to allocate half a working day on Bahrain Sports Day to employees of all ministries and government entities.
Shaikh Khalid praised the great turnout of participants, which reflects the success of the initiative in achieving its goals and spreading the sports culture, while promoting physical fitness.
He highlighted the importance of continuing and developing such initiatives in a way that contributes to enhancing Bahraini sports at various levels.
Also yesterday, Bahrain’s ministries and government entities, along with a large number of private companies, held their own activities to mark Bahrain Sports Day.
