Cloud Drift won the Tylos Plastic Industries Cup after easing to victory in the eighth race of the season’s 17th horse racing event organised by Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club at Al Raffa racecourse in Sakhir yesterday.
The Gunners Racing horse, trained by A Smith and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, powered past Al Mehamediya Racing’s Al Jellaby by two-and-a-quarter length in the 1,600 metre race for imported horses three years old and above, rated 0-95. The winner claimed a prize of BD5,000.
Second-placed Al Jellaby was trained by Osama Hashim and ridden by Ebrahim Nader.
Al Fajir Mukbile, owned by Raed Ahmed Yousif Alboainain, trained by Yousif Alboainain and ridden by Hussain Makki, finished third.
In the seventh race of the day, MKAR Racing’s Litigator claimed the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club Cup and BD2,000 after winning the 2,000m race for imported classes 3 and 4 maiden horses aged three and above.
The winner was trained by Haider Ebrahim and ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
In second and third places were Al Mohamediya Racing’s Medal Winner and Caledonian Crusade.
Meanwhile, Al Afoo Racing Stable’s Clareyblue, trained by Mohammed Saeed and ridden by Disuke Fukumoto, won the 1,200m sixth race, for imported horses rated 0-90, to clinch the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Cup. The winner received BD2,500.
The 1,400m fifth race of the day, for imported horses of all classes, was won by MKAR Racing’s Ecosystem, trained by Haider Ebrahim and ridden by Abdulla Faisal. The winner was awarded the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Cup and BD2,000.
Duwaliya, owned by Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by J Naylor and ridden by Abdulla Faisal, won the 1,400m fourth race for Tylos Plastic Industries Cup. It was held for local-bred horses rated 0-45. The winner also claimed BD2,000.
Al Adiyat Racing’s Cutlass, trained by A Smith and ridden by A Rahim Jassim, emerged winner of the third race for the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Cup. The 1,800m race, offering a prize of BD2,500, was held for local-bred horses rated 0-35.
Kailara, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by J Naylor and ridden by Paddy Mathers, won the 1,000m second race for the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Cup. The winner of the race, held for local-bred maiden class three-year-old horses, also received a prize of BD2,000.

The first race of the day, for class 3 and 4 maiden horses (WAHO), was won by Al Mohamediya Racing’s Al Suwaity M671, trained by Abbas Al Mawali and ridden by Marcialis Jaures. The winner was awarded the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait Cup and BD2,000.
Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club High Commission chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the races.
Shaikh Isa received the Tylos Plastic Cup from Tylos Plastic exective director Essam Al Jabri.
Al Jabri also presented another cup to trainer Naylor, winner of the fourth race.
BBK chief executive officer Dr Abdulrahman Saif presented the BBK Cup to the owner of the fifth race winner, Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, and another cup to Ibrahim Al Afou, owner of the sixth race winner.
BBK public relations officer Abdul Rahman Ali Abdulla Danish presented the first race cup to Shaikh Sultan Eddine bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa.
BBK general manager for retail banking services Dr Adel Salem presented the second race cup to trainer Naylor and the third race cup to trainer Smith.
