Cricket – Chennai Super Kings are all but out of the edition after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in their Indian Premier League match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai yesterday.
Harshal Patel bagged a four-wicket haul as Hyderabad bundled out Chennai for 154 after opting to bowl first. Dewald Brevis top-scored for Chennai with a 25-ball 42, while Ayush Mhatre continued his impressive start to the IPL with another cameo at the top. He hit 30 off 18 balls.
Hyderabad stumbled in the chase but an unbeaten 49-run stand between Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Reddy eventually sealed the game for them. A loss for Chennai meant that they stayed at the bottom spot in the points table with just two wins in nine matches. The MS Dhoni-led side have lost seven matches and stand on the brink of elimination.
