Muscat: Oman's Environment Authority has announced that a green turtle which left the country 23 years ago has returned to its nest.
Tagged by conservation groups before leaving the Sultanate, the turtle returned to a reserve established for turtle care and protection, Times of Oman reported.
The turtle “returned to the shores of the Sultanate to nest at the turtle reserve in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, where it was first registered in 1996 by the authority’s employees,” the authority said in a statement.
