BAHRAIN’S star shooting guard Maytham Jameel last night said the national team is completely focused on their game against Egypt tonight in the 23rd Arab Men’s Basketball Championship in Cairo, starting at 8pm.
Jameel said he and his teammates have already put their impressive victory over Saudi Arabia on Thursday behind them, and are only looking forward to their remaining games in the tournament, beginning with Egypt, who are the defending champions.
It will be the second game for Bahrain and third for the hosts, who were 82-69 winners against the UAE last night.
“It is true that we were very happy with our win against Saudi in our first game, but we have forgotten all of that now and our focus is on giving our best performance against Egypt, who are a very strong and experienced team,” said Jameel after a practice session under head coach Salman Ramadhan.
“We hope to achieve a positive result against them as we want to continue to do well in this competition and be the champions.”
Bahrain were the silver-medalists behind Egypt in the previous edition of the Arab championship.
