Kuwait City: The State of Kuwait has asked the North Korean Ambassador So Chaing Sik to leave the country.
The Kuwaiti decision is in line with the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2123 which was adopted after Pyongyang regime carried out its fifth nuclear test.
The Foreign Ministry has also asked the North Korean Embassy to lower diplomatic presence to the level of charge d’affaires.
In a phone call with Al-Anba newspaper, the ambassador confirmed the decision, adding that he would leave the Kuwaiti territories by the end of this month.
Sources from the Foreign Ministry said that four North Korean diplomats only would be allowed to remain, including the charge d’affaires.
Kuwait is the third country after Mexico and Peru to ask a North Korean ambassador to leave, based on a UN resolution.
According to Arab Times, the Kuwaiti authorities have also suspended the issuance and renewal of visas of North Korean expatriate workers.
