A mother in Kentucky, USA, was dumbfounded when she received the delivery of 70,000 lollipops at her home.
On probing further, she learned that her second-grader son had accidentally placed the order while he was playing with her phone.
The boy, who has developmental delays and suffers from a condition that affects his decision-making, ordered 30 cases of lollipops, each containing around 2,300 lollipops and costing USD 130 (BD49) each, for a total cost of USD 3,900 (BD1,470).
“He told me that he wanted to have a carnival, and he was ordering the Dum-Dums (The lollipop brand) as prizes for his carnival. Again, he was being friendly and being kind to his friends, but he’s just not able to think into the future and see what consequences would be,” the mother told television station WKYT.
Eventually, the mother managed to resolve the situation after talking to the bank and a few news stations. She got Amazon to call her and offer her a full refund.
The boxes, though, remained with her, so she took to Facebook to ask for help with this odd situation. The community obliged and bought every single case from her.
Seems like the story had a sweet ending for everyone.
