Famous Egyptian singer and actor Mohamed Ramadan is set to be prosecuted by the Egyptian government for insulting Egypt and its people following his Coachella performance last month.
The case against Ramadan comes after his controversial viral Coachella performance, where he wore a pharaonic-themed chest piece and carried the Egyptian flag on his back. The controversy arose from many on social media comparing the piece to a belly dancer's outfit.
The lawyer who kickstarted this case has said that Ramadan misrepresented national symbols and attacked the dignity of the Egyptian people with his displays at the show.
He also accused him of promoting Masonic values and demanded he pay $1 billion to the Tahya Misr fund.
The hearings are set to commence on June 3.
