MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport came half-a-second shy of clinching their second straight victory yesterday in the British GT Championship 2025 in the UK.
The 2 Seas tandem of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss put in a sensational drive to finish second overall in the Silverstone 500 – the second round of the British GT campaign. They started from seventh on the grid and pushed victors Paradine Competition all the way to a tense finish after three hours of racing.
Dawson and Jewiss were behind the wheel of 2 Seas’ #42 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, in which they won the season-opener held earlier this month at Donington Park.
They continued to impress at Silverstone Circuit yesterday, and were classified just 0.580 seconds at the chequered flag from Paradine’s Darren Leung and Dan Harper, sharing the duties in their #91 BMW M4 GT3 Evo.
Jewiss was in the lead heading into the race’s final half-hour but, after pitting, returned to the track right behind Harper.
The two were then engaged in a heated two-horse battle over the final minutes, with Jewiss going bumper to bumper with his rival, who was fighting to hold his position around the last corners with Jewiss less than a second behind.
Harper just managed to beat Jewiss out in the end, making for a thrilling finish as 2 Seas had to settle for their place on the podium as runners-up.
Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhofer of Optimum Motorsport claimed third place overall, finishing 8.858s from Paradine. All three top-placers were competing in the series’ GT3 Pro-Am class.
Meanwhile, 2 Seas’ other crew of Kevin Tse and Maximilian Gotz in their #18 contender were classified 13th overall – one lap behind the victors. It was an unfortunate final result for the pair as they had dropped 11 places during the race, having started from second on the front row alongside pole-sitters Optimum.
With the result, Dawson and Jewiss now have a win and a runner-up finish in their first two races of the British GT season, which is their debut campaign as a pairing. Tse and Gotz also have a podium to their names after taking third at the Donington curtain-raiser.
2 Seas are competing this British GT campaign hoping to repeat their title-winning success in the GT3 teams’ championship from 2023.
The series returns next month with a double-header at Oulton Park over the weekend of May 23 to 26. That will mark the third and fourth of nine rounds in 2025.
