FOOTBALL – His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met yesterday the players as well as the technical and administrative staff of the Bahrain national football team at Riffa Palace to celebrate their victory at the 26th Gulf Cup.
HRH Prince Salman affirmed that the achievements of the people of Bahrain in various sports are a result of His Majesty King Hamad’s unwavering support for the kingdom’s sports sector.
He emphasised that Bahrain’s success in international and regional championships and forums serves as a significant source of pride.
He noted that Bahrain is home to talented individuals who consistently write success stories through their achievements, strengthening the kingdom’s standing.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted that every new achievement by Team Bahrain contributes to the kingdom’s comprehensive development, which began 25 years ago with the accession of His Majesty to the throne.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister congratulated the team on their outstanding performance throughout the championship, which culminated in the historic victory.
He noted that the achievement serves as a stepping stone for the team towards future success in Bahraini football.
He affirmed the dedication and commitment of His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to developing Bahrain’s sports sector and achieving the kingdom’s aspirations.
HRH Prince Salman commended the efforts of Bahrain Football Association (BFA) president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa as well as all BFA members and members of the national workforce who supported the Bahrain national team in their victory.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the unwavering support of the Bahraini fans for the national team throughout the championship, emphasising that their encouragement was the greatest incentive for the team’s triumph as champions of the 26th Gulf Cup.
He also praised Kuwait for its exceptional organisation of the tournament and praised the efforts of all the teams that competed, wishing them success in future championships.
For their part, the players, along with the administrative and technical staff, expressed their appreciation for HRH Prince Salman’s support for the people of Bahrain, which contributed to the historic achievement.
They also pledged to achieve further sporting accomplishments that enhance the kingdom’s global standing.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Nasser, Shaikh Khalid, Isa Bin Salman Education Charitable Trust chairman, Labour Fund (Tamkeen) chairman and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and number of senior officials.
