Football – BAHRAIN Football Association (BFA) has approved special prize money for the clubs playing in the final of His Majesty the King’s Cup for the 2023-2024 season.
BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa confirmed that the association has approved a BD100,000 prize money for the champion of the King’s Cup competition for the current season, while the runner-up team will receive BD50,000.
In this context he praised the support received from His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and also SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, expressing thanks and appreciation for their prominent efforts and special interest in supporting Bahraini sports in general, and football activities in particular.
Shaikh Ali stressed that the King’s Cup final is an event awaited by the sports fraternity in general and football lovers in particular, because of the precious value it constitutes in the hearts of all athletes, noting that the total prize money of BD150,000 for the champion and runner-up clubs for the second consecutive season, indicates the great importance of the tournament.
He said that the BFA will harness all its energies in order to present a successful tournament as in previous years, especially for the final, adding that the association will give special support to ensure it succeeds at all levels.
Shaikh Ali expressed his best wishes for the two clubs – Muharraq and Al Ahli – that qualified for the showdown to present a competitive match in the meeting scheduled for Saturday at the Bahrain National Stadium.
