SHOWJUMPING – Bahraini athletes Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid Al Khalifa and Basel Al Dosseri achieved impressive results at the Virtus International Showjumping Championship, held at the Emirates Equestrian Centre in Dubai.
The championship, organised under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation featured wide participation from athletes representing various countries around the world. The event is sponsored by Longines.
Shaikh Hassan participated on the horse HBR Zorro D’acs, and secured the fifth place, posting a time of 35.59 seconds in the second phase of the course. The Bahraini athlete had a clean run to the finish line.
Riding Spike VD Withoeve, he finished seventh following a flawless performance, clocking 38.73 in the ِAl Sakb Equestrian round which included 120cm hurdles, and featured the participation of 68 athletes from 16 countries.
Furthermore, he finished third with HBR Zorro D’acs in 52.26 without any fault in the Virtus Costume Class accumulator competition, featuring 120cm hurdles. The competition witnessed the participation of 78 athletes from 16 countries.
Meanwhile, Al Dosseri came fifth with his horse Amalfi earning a qualification card to compete in the Grand Prix of the championship.
He completed the course without faults in 67.95, competing against 17 athletes from seven countries.
Omar Abdulaziz Al Marzouqi claimed the Grand Prix title in the championship.
He made two flawless runs, posting a time of 45.24 seconds in the Two-Star category. Al Marzouqi competed against 22 participants from eight countries.
