Defending champions Manama will face off against Qatar’s Al Shamal club in the second Group B match for both teams in the 2023-24 West Asia Super League (WASL) – Gulf Region at the Zain Basketball Arena tonight.
The Bahraini club are currently in second place in the four-team table with two points, behind Shabab Al Ahli – Dubai who also have two points, after the opening round of matches last month.
Having won the WASL in its first season which began last December and ended in June this year, Manama got their title defence off to a fine start on November 20 by outclassing Kuwait’s Kazma Club 84-76 at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in front of a packed home crowd.
Al Shamal, meanwhile, saw their season begin on a low note as they went down to Shabab Al Ahli – Dubai, 96-63, in Doha.
The home side will be hoping that Mustafa Husain and Sir’Dominic Pointer, who scored 29 and 20 points respectively in the opening game, will be able to reproduce that same form tonight.
And the visitors will look to Mohamed Hassan and Efosa Osayande, who both scored 13 points each in their big loss to the Dubai side, to try and better that performance.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7.30pm Bahrain time.
