Al Khaldiya topped the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League standings yesterday after a 5-3 victory over Al Hidd in the 16th round.
Mahdi Al Humaidan scored the opening goal for Al Khaldiya after a cross from Mohammed Adel in the 25th minute. Ismail Abdullatif extended the lead in the 37th minute, but Hidd’s Talal Al Shurouqi managed to reduce the margin in the 42nd minute, giving Al Khaldiya a 2-1 lead at half-time.
Al Khaldiya continued to dominate the proceedings after the interval as Al Humaidan scored his second goal of the match in the 52nd minute and Aymen Harzi added the fourth goal in the 65th minute.
Isa Jehad added the second goal for Hidd in the 72nd minute before Andre Lewis made it 5-2 for Al Khaldiya, seven minutes later.
Hidd netted their third goal in additional time, through Abdel Fattah Bashir.
Al Khaldiya surged to the top of the table after yesterday’s victory on 30 points, two ahead of Manama, who play Al Hala today.
Meanwhile, in another 16th-round match yesterday, Riffa and Al Ahli played out a 1-1 draw.
