Dubai: A fire at Iran's Abadan oil refinery, the country's largest, has been contained with no serious damage or impact on operations, the Iranian oil ministry's news agency Shana reported on Friday.
The fire broke out on Thursday in the distillation section 80 of the refinery but did not damage the facilities of the distillation section, Shana cited Habibollah Abolhosseini, Managing Director of the refinery.
The fire was due to a leakage in one of the pipes, he said, adding the refinery continued to operate normally.
The refinery is located in Abadan, south-western of Iran, with a processing capacity of 429,000 barrels per day (bpd).
