Thomsun Group, a leading business conglomerate with operations in the Gulf and Indian subcontinent, has announced plans to invest Dh200 million ($54.4 million) in consumer electronics retailing business over the next three years.
Thomsun Group’s expansion plans will see rolling out 15 retail outlets across the UAE by 2019, including five outlets to be opened in one year, reported Gulf News, citing a senior offfcial.
"We are entering the mass electronics retail space in UAE with our first outlet in Sharjah. We will expand the chain with more outlets in the UAE and beyond, aimed to leverage the positive transformation of consumer electronics and retail segments in these markets,” remarked KV Thomas, the managing director of Thomsun Group.
He was speaking at the opening of the group’s first retail outlet Thomsun Play store spanning over 30,000 sq ft on Al Wahda Road in Sharjah.
Thomsun Play is the first connected and live experience electronics store in the region. It showcases a wide range of consumer relevant and innovative household electronic products, musical instruments, gadgets and lighting products with high-end technological features, said the report.
The showroom introduces innovative features like a VR zone with live recording studio and free WiFi to sing and go live on social media for customers, in addition to a live cooking demo station, it added.
