VOLLEYBALL – MUHARRAQ drew first blood last night in their best-of-three semi-final series against Al Najma in the 2024-25 His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s Cup.
The recently crowned Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League champions cruised in game one of their match-up for a resounding 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-18) victory.
Muharraq showed their class with a strong performance, where their usual cast of Naser, Anan, Sayed Hashem Issa, Mahmood Alafayah, Abbas Al Khabbaz, and Swedish professional Jacob Link were in fine form.
Issa supplied the set-clinching spikes in each of the first two sets, and then late in the third, Anan delivered the decisive blow with a service ace.
Muharraq will be looking to close out their semis series with a win in game two on Wednesday, while game three, if needed, will take place on Saturday during the weekend.
Meanwhile, the other clash in the last four between the league’s losing finalists Al Ahli and last year’s national champions Dar Kulaib is scheduled to get underway tonight. Game one is also scheduled for a 7pm start this evening at Isa bin Rashid Arena, located at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
Game two will also be held on Wednesday, and game three, if required, on Saturday.
The winners of both semi-finals will lock horns in the single-game title-decider, which has yet to be scheduled by the Bahrain Volleyball Association.
