MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport secured a front-row grid position yesterday for today’s Silverstone 500 – the second round of the 2025 British GT Championship.
The meeting is taking place at Silverstone Circuit in the UK, with 2 Seas, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, looking to make a strong challenge for a victory and podium with their two crews.
The 2 Seas pairing of Kevin Tse and Maximilian Gotz in their #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo car will start alongside pole-sitters Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhafer of Optimum Motorsport on row one.
Tse and Gotz were classified second overall in yesterday’s GT3 combined qualifying timesheet, posting a time of three minutes 56.049 seconds from the marks of Tse and Gotz in each of their sessions.
Tse was first in the car and he had a time of 1:59.073, which placed him third in the opening qualifying session. Gotz then took over and posted a mark of 1:56.976 for second place in qualifying two. Their times were totalled, earning them their front-row place.
Optimum grabbed pole with a combined mark of 3:55.388 in their McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
Meanwhile, Tse and Gotz’s teammates, Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss, driving the team’s #42 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, will start from seventh on the grid. They set a combined qualifying mark of 3:57.391 yesterday.
Dawson posted a top lap of 1:59.951 for 10th in the first qualifying session, and then Jewiss had a quickest lap of 1:57.440 for sixth in qualifying two.
Earlier in the day yesterday, Tse and Gotz finished second on the timesheet in the weekend’s free practice session. They posted a best lap of 1:58.225 – just 0.383 seconds from the pace-setters from Optimum Motorsport.
Dawson and Jewiss finished fourth in the practice, clocking a mark of 1:58.400, which was 0.558s from the top.
The stage is now set for the Silverstone 500 – today’s three-hour race scheduled to flag off at 2.30pm, Bahrain time.
Dawson and Jewiss were the winners in the first round of the British GT season, held earlier this month at Donington Park, and they will be looking to repeat their superb lights-to-flag success. Tse and Gotz also had reason to celebrate at Donington, stepping them on the podium as third-placers.
2 Seas are competing this British GT campaign hoping to repeat their title-winning success in the GT3 teams’ championship from 2023. They enjoyed a solid campaign last year, which saw them claim two race wins and a pole position.
The 2025 calendar features nine rounds in all, to be held across six meetings in the UK and one in Belgium.
