HANDBALL – THE 2024-25 Bahrain Super Cup will be held this weekend at the Bahrain Handball Federation (BHF) Arena in Um Al Hassam.
On Thursday, Khalid bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League champions Al Shabab will take on Al Ahli at 5.30pm, to be followed by Al Dair facing off with last year’s Bahrain Super Cup winners Al Najma at 7.30pm.
The winners of both contests will move on to this season’s Bahrain Super Cup final, which will be held the next evening on Friday at 7pm at the same venue.
The Bahrain Super Cup in handball is the traditional season-opener of the national game. This year’s competition is the first time that four teams are taking part.
It was earlier scheduled to be held at a different date but the BHF announced the competition’s postponement. The new schedule was released yesterday.
Shabab were crowned champions of the last season’s national league after edging past Dair 26-23 in a thrilling final, played at Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town.
Najma claimed the 2023 trophy after defeating Shabab 23-21 in the one-off final, played at the BHF Arena.
