ENDURANCE – The Royal Endurance Team took part in the opening ceremony of the World Endurance Championship, which begins tomorrow with a 160-kilometre race in France.
The Bahraini delegation is led by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, riding Averest La Magorie.
The team also includes four riders: Jaffar Mirza on Bolt de Vanels, Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa on Viz Fagioli, Othman Al Awadhi on Ermin Dartagnan, and Salman Isa on Elmir de Bozouls. The reserve riders are Sarhan Hameed and Hamad Isa.
During the ceremony, the Royal Endurance Team, led by team director Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan, proudly carried Bahrain’s flag onto the stage, accompanied by the riders. The event featured various performances and activities.
Dr Hassan emphasised that the team’s presence in the championship highlights Bahrain’s position in the endurance sport world, which is a testament to the support of Shaikh Nasser
Dr Hassan added that the team is well-prepared, having enhanced their performance in European competitions, including Shaikh Nasser’s recent win in Hungary. He also wished the team success in the upcoming race.
