Seven Bahraini youngsters are set to fly the kingdom’s flag in this year’s Arab Tennis Championship, which is set to be held in Tunisia starting on Friday.
The team of up-and-coming players includes Ahmed Mohammed Abdulrahman, Talal Mohammed Al Sayed, Hashem Al Toobli, Abdulla Mohammed Al Dosari, Issa Zuhair Abbas, and Abdulla Shaheen Khalfan amongst the boys and Maryam Al Abbasi as the lone girl participant.
Ahmed, Talal, and Hashem will be playing in the boys’ under-14 category, while Abdulla Mohammed Al Dosari, Issa, and Abdulla Shaheen Khalfan will be competing amongst the under-12s. Maryam will be playing in the girls’ under-14 division.
The players have departed for Tunis to compete in the event as part of the kingdom’s delegation headed by Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) secretary general Fouad Al Rowaie.
The youngsters have prepared for the Arab tournament with a participation in the Hungary Bowl, held in Budapest as part of the Ten-Pro Global Junior Tour 2024, in June. They also conducted training camps in the past two months, under the supervision of the BTF and the national team’s coaches, with the aim of raising their technical levels and physical fitness.
