OLYMPICS – HIS Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa met yesterday with International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach on the sidelines of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa was present.
During the meeting, Shaikh Nasser emphasised the pivotal role of the IOC in advancing global sports through its continuous support for national Olympic committees.
He highlighted the co-operation between the BOC and the IOC, which has significantly contributed to the development of Bahraini sports professionals on both technical and administrative levels.
Shaikh Nasser lauded Bach’s efforts in developing the Olympic sports scene, noting the significant advancements seen in each edition of the Olympic Games, which bodes well for the future of this global event.
Bach affirmed the IOC’s commitment to continued cooperation with the BOC to achieve further success. He commended the notable progress of Bahraini sports, which has led to the kingdom’s achievements at the Olympics. He also wished further success for Bahrain’s sports movement.
BOC secretary general Faris Al Kooheji was also present along with several IOC officials.
