FOOTBALL – Bahrain's under-23 football team won their third friendly match in a row during their summer training camp in Europe.
The Bahrainis defeated the first team of Turkish outfit Antalya 1863 FK 2-0 in a match that was part of their ongoing preparations for upcoming competitions.
Abdulrahman Abood and Abdulrahman Gadban were on target for the nationals on either side of half-time. Abood struck in the 44th minute to give Bahrain the lead and then Gadban applied the nail in the coffin two minutes from full time.
The result followed wins against other local opposition. The Bahrainis first defeated the reserve team of Turkey’s Isparta 32 Spor Futbol Kulubu 3-1, and then posted a resounding 3-0 triumph over the reserve team of Antalyaspor in their second friendly clash.
The under-23s have two more tune-ups to play in their camp. They are next set to take on the first team of Bucaspor club before wrapping up with a match against the first team of Isparta, which will be held on their last day in Turkey.
The Bahrainis are in their camp under the supervision of Moroccan head coach Hicham Dmiai. They are preparing for the GCC Under-23 Football Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Kuwait this October, as well as the qualifiers next year for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026.
