Bahrain-based Tekkers Football Academy youngster Hamza Ali has been selected by English Premier League giants Southampton FC’s academy to participate in two exhibition matches next week in England.
This was announced yesterday by Tekkers Football Academy Bahrain, where Hamza has been honing his skills as one of the kingdom’s top young prospects over the past few years.
Tekkers are partners with Southampton, who boast one of the premier academy systems in Europe.
Hamza will be playing at the first team’s training ground, Staplewood, next week in a series of matches with both the academy and the centre of excellence of London. Tekkers are hoping that Hamza can put his talents on display and showcase what Bahrain has to offer.
Hamza is known for his prowess as a left-winger, and he not only outmanoeuvres opponents one-on-one but also expertly creates opportunities for his teammates.
“We are very proud of Hamza,” Tekkers Football Academy Bahrain manager Liam Trigg told the GDN. “This is a great achievement personally for him and I hope he enjoys every second of this opportunity.
“Tekkers are very proud of our relationship with Southampton Football Club, and we hope to be able to give more youngsters this rare opportunity over the years, to be able to showcase their talents amongst the very best in England.”
At Tekkers, Hamza has made waves as one of the kingdom’s brightest prospects. He dazzled on the field with his agility and sharp instincts, and scored 30 goals while assisting 16 in the under-11 division of the Junior Premier League Bahrain in 2022. He played a pivotal role in Tekkers’s title victory that year and clinched the Player of the Season award.
Moving up to the under-12 division in 2023, Hamzav didn’t slow down, adding 13 goals and three assists to his tally.
This season, Hamza kept the momentum going, helping Tekkers secure another league title with 21 goals and 13 assists while earning the Player of the Season honour once again.
