Muscat: Oman’s Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from the coronavirus pandemic has announced the decision to continue the lockdown of the Governorate of Muscat until 10 pm on May 29.
The meeting, which was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi, made the decision due to the persistent proliferation of the coronavirus in some areas and to protect all members of society from infection.
The committee also took the initiative to end the 2019-2020 school year on May 7, making it the last day of the school year, Oman News Agency reported.
The committee authorised the Education Ministry to endorse a suitable alternative to calculate results for the promotion of classes from 1 to 12 and their equivalents while encouraging all members of society to stick to measures of prevention from the coronavirus disease, notably precautions of social distancing and avoidance of assembling or any gatherings.
