Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution (Adnoc Distribution) has launched the pilot phase of its smart self-refuelling service (Adnoc SMART) in the UAE capital.
Set to run until October 1 2016, the pilot phase covers four service stations located on Abu Dhabi Island and invites customers to try out self-refuelling using state-of-the art technology. Adnoc SMART also enables registered customers to benefit from a variety of innovative payment methods.
The pilot phase of Adnoc SMART was inaugurated at Rabdan ‘smart’ service station in the presence of Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Adnoc and Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of Adnoc Distribution.
“This new electronic service leverages the latest technology to enhance the customer experience. It is in keeping with Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030 aimed at achieving a comprehensive digital transformation for the UAE and also demonstrates Adnoc’s commitment to adopting international best practices, improving company performance and meeting our customers’ expectations,” said Al Jaber.
Al Dhaheri said: “Adnoc SMART service allows customers to benefit from our cutting-edge, tech-advanced infrastructure to experience self-refuelling in a fast, easy and safe environment when they visit one of our smart service stations.”
“We are closely monitoring and evaluating the pilot phase of Adnoc SMART and the customer’s actual experience throughout the eight-month period. Based on the outcomes, we hope to expand the service - after carrying out improvements as needed - across our network of service stations in the emirate of Abu Dhabi,” he added.
All individual customers are encouraged to register for the Adnoc Wallet account. The Adnoc Wallet allows customers to pay for their purchases at the participating smart service stations in three different ways – via the Smart Tag, a smart chip installed at the fuel inlet of the vehicles’ fuel tank and linked to the Adnoc Wallet account, the Adnoc Plus cards, or via their ID cards that are also linked to the Adnoc Wallet and activated for payments.
The smart payment solutions are aimed at providing customers with added convenience and safety, enabling them to manage their accounts from anywhere, at any time via tablets or mobiles.
Adnoc Distribution has kicked off multifaceted educational and awareness campaigns to introduce the pilot phase of the Adnoc SMART service and encourage customers to register and benefit from the free incentives.
Customers can subscribe online for their Adnoc Wallet accounts by visiting the company’s website and following the simple steps for registration. Adnoc SMART eventually seeks to reduce queues and waiting time at Adnoc Distribution’s network of service stations.
Adnoc Distribution is incentivizing customers to subscribe to the Adnoc Wallet through offering complimentary Smart Tags to the first 5,000 customers opting to experience the service. The company is also issuing Adnoc Plus cards for free to the first 5,000 customers. In addition, customers registering for the Adnoc Wallet can have their ID cards linked to their Adnoc Wallet accounts and activated for free.
The four ‘smart’ service stations included in the pilot phase are all located on Abu Dhabi Island - Rabdan service station located in Al Mushrif area on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street - Abu Dhabi Road, Al Nasr Service Station located on Sheikh Zayed the First Street, Al Zafarana service station located near Khalifa University, and Al Qanah service station located on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street.
Customers can get instant directions to the locations of service stations implementing the pilot phase of Adnoc SMART by entering the stations’ numbers on the company’s free-to-download mobile application (mobileapp.adnocdistribution.ae).
In addition, Adnoc Distribution has opened six smart centres (Rahal Centres) across Abu Dhabi to enable customers to register for Adnoc Wallet accounts in the pilot phase.
Throughout the pilot phase, Adnoc Distribution will continue to offer the option of paying in cash to customers who prefer the conventional method. This may be done exclusively through the smart cash payment machines installed on the fuelling islands and within the Adnoc Oasis stores. In addition, the company will continue to accept payments made via bank credit and debit cards. – TradeArabia News Service
