Cairo: Veteran Egyptian actor Farouk Al-Fishawy died early this morning (Thursday), aged 67 years after a long battle with cancer.
Farouk slipped into deep coma and died at a private hospital in Egypt. He will be buried today after the funeral prayer at the Mustapha Mahmoud Mosque at the district of Al-Mouhandisin in Cairo.
The movie star revealed during the opening of the 34th edition Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival that he had cancer.
“I will defeat the disease with determination and will, and next year I will be here again at the very same festival”, Al-Fishawy said then to his fans eight months ago.
Born in 1952 in Cairo, the deceased starred in more than 61 movies since 1981.
