Abu Dhabi – The population inhabiting the city of Dubai has grown by 7.7 per cent during the third quarter of 2018, to reach 3. 136, 400, compared with the same period last year.
The Dubai Statistics Centre said the city’s overall population increased by 232,400 over the past three months (July, August and September).
According to centre executive director Aref Al-Mahiri, the population of Dubai reached 4,291,400 during normal peak hours.
“Around 1.155 million people live in Dubai on a temporary basis either for work or tourism in most cases”, said, stressing the crucial importance of such key figures for decision-makers and investors and decide the needs in infrastructure and security services.
Al-Mahiri that the natural demographic in Dubai reached 1.1% during the same three-month period, out of an overall 7.7% population growth.
Female inhabitants make up 50.5 % of the overall population of Dubai, while the rate of males stands at 49.5% - that is 89 males for every 100 women.
According to historical documents and books, the overall population of Dubai did not exceed 12,000 in the year 1881, growing 263 times in 137 years to reach 3. 136, 400, according to the latest statistics
