Abu Dubai – The UAE authorities have today banned the popular spread, 'Halawa Al Burj', an import from a Syrian company.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment just issued a circular to the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, as well as to the municipalities of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras al Khaimah and Fujairah, banning the sesame-derived food from UAE.
The popular sesame food product has been found to contain Salmonella, according to local media.
All necessary precautions will be undertaken to ensure the product is not traded, brought in, or consumed without being free of all contaminants.
