HORSERACING – Tawaareq, owned by Victorious, raced to victory and claimed the Alba Cup in the 10th event of the season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) yesterday.
The winner, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Stephane Ladjadj, powered past Panning For Gold, of Al Mohamediya Racing, to claim victory in the fifth race of the day, for imported horses, covering a distance of 2,400 metres. In third place was Knight Of Honour, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing.
Ava Go Joe, of AMS Racing, was the winner of the Aluminium for the World Sprint Cup, cruising past Rebel At Dawn, of Al Adiyat Racing, and Thunder Moor, of Al Mohamediya Racing. Kaasib, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing, finished fourth. The race, for imported horses, covered a distance of 1,000m.
Meanwhile, Bussento, of Al Mohamediya Racing, emerged as the winner in the third race of the day to clinch the Alba Eternal Cup. Juantorena, of Victorious, was second while Yaalail, owned by Jaffar Marzooq, finished third.
The Alba Sprint Cup was claimed by What A Business, owned by Jawad A Wahid Ahmed, overcoming Rawyaan, owned by Hasan Edad Hasan, and Alabrar, of Al Sairafi Syndicate.
Lady Hurricane, of L&L Racing, claimed victory in the final race of the day to bag Alba The Maidens Cup, finishing ahead of Victorious horses Deham and Mamlooha.
Earlier, Mister Dollar, of Al Mohamediya Racing, won the Alba Cup for Local Bred Handicap after powering past Tharb, owned by Abdulla Sami Nass, and Call Of Duty, of M and E Racing.
Raseen, owned by Sayed Ali Mohamed Al Alawi, claimed Alba Apprentice Cup for local-bred horses. Naahy, owned by Fata Abdulhaleem Majeed, was second while Latif, of Al Jasmi Stable, finished in the third place.
The opening race of the day was won by Obeyan 1867, of Al Wasmiya. The winner was followed by Kuheilan Al Adiyat 1894, of Victorious, in the second position while Musannan M908, of Al Mohamediya Racing, finished third.
The winners were honoured by Alba chairman Khalid Al Rumaihi.
