Cairo: Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) of Egypt, met with Keiichi Yoshimura, Director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Startup and International Financial City Strategy Office, to discuss cooperation in supporting digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
The meeting took place during Talaat’s visit to Japan to attend the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025 conference, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The two sides discussed means to enhance cooperation between Egypt’s Creativa centers and Tokyo Innovation Base (TIB), particularly in artificial intelligence and startup development.
TIB, launched in May 2024 with the support of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, works with more than 140 private-sector partners to support startups and help them grow globally.
Minister Talaat also met with senior executives from Renesas Electronics, TDK, and Mitsubishi Electric to discuss opportunities for investment in semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, and research and development in Egypt.
