MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI motorsport talents Carina Abdulrahman Ghuloom and Sahar Darwaa are set to fly the kingdom’s flag in Rally Jameel 2025 – the region’s first women-only off-road navigation rally.
The four-stage challenge is scheduled to get underway with stage one tomorrow. The event is set to cover a total of 1,600 kilometres of desert dunes and mountain trails, reaching five cities in two countries, including Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The rally is designed as a competition to test navigation skills, not speed, through travelling on a predefined route between checkpoints where points will be accrued.
This year’s route starts from Petra in Jordan, and it will pass through Tabuk, AlUla, and Hail, before ending in the Saudi province of Qassim.
Ghuloom is the driver between the Team Bahrain pairing while Darwaa is the co-driver. They are part of a field of more than 40 duos from all over the world in the event.
“We are honoured to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) in Rally Jameel 2025,” said Ghuloom on social media.
“Team Bahrain would like to thank the BMF for their ongoing support and especially for women in motorsports.
“Last but not least, to the motorsport community in Bahrain for always supporting each other.”
Prior to their departure for Jordan, Ghuloom and Darwaa met with BMF general manager Abdulaziz Al Thawadi, who wished them success in the Rally Jameel.
This year’s Rally Jameel marks its fourth edition. Competitors will navigate through some of the region’s most stunning and historically rich landscapes, with many stages set against the backdrop of Unesco World Heritage Sites.
Ghuloom and Darwaa are competing for the third time in the event. In 2024, they finished 43rd overall in the PT4 category, behind the wheel of their Toyota Fortuner 2022. In 2023, the Team Bahrain duo ranked 17th in the same challenger, also competing amongst the PT4 field.
