HORSERACING – AL Adiyat Racing and M and E Racing were amongst the big winners in the Future Stars programme of the 2024-25 national horseracing season at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
The Future Stars initiative was created by REHC for locally bred horses. Held this campaign for the first time, it has proven to be a qualitative addition to the kingdom’s horseracing calendar.
REHC launched Future Stars with the aim of supporting and encouraging Bahraini stables and owners to give greater attention to locally bred horses and to raise the level of competitiveness in this field. Sponsored by Singapore Gulf Bank, it included six races held across three meetings this past season.
Al Adiyat Racing topped the owners’ standings in the Future Stars’ short-distance (1,000 metres to 1,200m) race category, while AM Smith finished as the leading trainer in his standings. Abdulrahim Jasim was the top man in the jockey rankings, while the horse Membership was in first place in the horses’ standings.
In the middle-distance (1,400m to 1,600m) race category, M and E Racing were first amongst the owners. Smith was once again the top trainer, while Lee Newman finished as the best jockey. Pheonix led the horses’ rankings.
Through initiatives like Future Stars, REHC affirms its continued support and development of local horseracing as part of its vision to develop the sport in the kingdom and provide wider opportunities for Bahraini owners and breeders, while enhancing competitiveness in Bahrain’s horseracing scene.
