When a 5.2-magnitude earthquake rattled Southern California earlier this week, a heartwarming display of animal instinct unfolded at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

As the camera trembled, the older elephants – Ndlula, Umngani, and Khosi – sprang into protective mode.
They swiftly encircled the two seven-year-old calves, Zuli and Mkhaya, shielding them from any perceived danger.
Even after the tremors subsided, the adult elephants remained huddled, vigilant with ears spread, showcasing their powerful bond and protective nature.
The earthquake, felt as far as Los Angeles, caused minor disruptions but clearly startled the gentle giants.
