A man was found guilty of breaking the right hand of a Bahraini sales representative after attacking him outside an Exhibition Road hotel in August last year.
Because neither the defendant nor a lawyer representing him appeared at the High Criminal Court trial, judges sentenced him in absentia to one year in prison, after only one hearing .
