FOOTBALL – BULGARIAN football legend Dimitar Berbatov has been announced as the latest addition to the star-studded cast of players who will be participating in the ‘Unity Kickoff – Play for a Cause’ charity football match, which will be held in the kingdom early next year.
The ex-Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United striker joins Brazil and Real Madrid icon Roberto Carlos, as well as former England and Chelsea captain John Terry, as the confirmed superstars for the event, happening January 31 at the National Stadium in Riffa.
Berbatov was also captain of the Bulgarian football national team and is the country’s top international goal scorer.
The ‘Unity Kickoff – Play for a Cause’ charity match will take place under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It is being organised by Dallah Promotions, in collaboration with the Bahrain Football Association, the GSA, and the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF). All proceeds raised from the match will be donated to the RHF.
Popular YouTubers, social media influencers, and renowned celebrities will also be lining up in the contest, making for a star-studded occasion.
On the sidelines, former English Premier League manager Harry Redknapp and Bahrain national team head coach Dragan Talajic will be in charge of the teams that will be taking to the pitch in the exhibition affair.
