HORSERACING – THE Bahrain International Trophy this evening has once again attracted some of the biggest names in sports broadcasting, including the likes of Fox Sports in the US and ESPN/Star+ in South America and the Caribbean.
A total of 23 broadcasters have so far committed to showcasing the $1 million race – one of the showpiece horseracing events in the region.
Twelve horses are set to go to post with six countries represented, headed by four-time Group One winner, Nations Pride, and last year’s winner Spirit Dancer, co-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The race is due off at 7.35pm at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Sakhir.
Racecourse Media Group (RMG) and HBA Media (HBA), two of the world’s leading horseracing media rights companies working with the Bahrain Turf Club, are distributing the TV coverage.
For the first time, live coverage will be shown in Japan via digital platform Netkeiba, which engages 17m monthly users, and in Canada via leading sports network SportsNet.
Bahrain Turf Club CEO Yusuf Buheji said: “We are delighted that all corners of the globe will be able to watch the Bahrain International Trophy, which is befitting of the global nature of the race and its high standing in the international calendar.
“We would like to thank RMG and its agency, HBA Media, for securing such significant and meaningful television coverage.”
RMG is also delighted to be working with NEP Productions in co-producing the live one-hour world feed programme, which will air in 108 countries.
RMG communications and international TV distribution director Seb Vance added: “RMG is honoured to be working closely with the Bahrain Turf Club for its sixth season through our production, distribution and marketing partnerships.
“Along with our agency, HBA Media, we are delighted the Bahrain International Trophy will again enjoy such terrific exposure. We look forward to delivering another world-class event to audiences around the globe.”
