A Kuwaiti top official has made a significant statement about the quality of drinking water in the country, in comparison with the rest of the world.
According to Dr. Faisal Al-Humaidan, the acting director general of the Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research (KISR), the country enjoys safe water and wide coverage of drinking water and wastewater services.
"Kuwait ranked first among Arab countries and sixth in the world in global quality of drinking water and treated wastewater and its use in a manner that protects the environment by 100 per cent, according to the joint monitoring programme between the World Health Organisation and UNICEF," he said in a statement.
This revelation comes after the Water Research Centre at KISR conducted a regional workshop with the aim of building a platform for joint work and cooperation in the field.
He added that Kuwait's Sulaibiya Desalination plant is the largest facility in the world that uses reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration, emphasising Kuwait's place as one of the top nations for treating wastewater using the latest international standards and technologies.
