The US$1million Bahrain International Trophy, the kingdom’s most valuable horserace, takes place tomorrow at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
Twelve world-class runners will be participating in the Group Two event. Their starting gates were determined in the post-position draw held Wednesday night at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
Isa bin Salman Education Charitable Trust board of trustees chairman, Labour Fund (Tamkeen) chairman, and REHC High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa was in attendance along with other high-ranking officials.
Tomorrow’s 2,000m race is scheduled to get underway at 7.35pm and it will be held for the first time ever at night under REHC’s new floodlights.
GDN Media caught up with REHC High Committee representative international racing Shaikh Salman bin Rashed Al Khalifa, along with Richard Fahey, trainer of last year’s winner Spirit Dancer, and Yann Lerner, trainer of Calif racing for Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Victorious Racing, at the draw.
