Muscat- HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, today graced a military music festival organised by the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) on the occasion of 54th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman.
The 3-day celebration, featuring performances by Omani military music bands and a selection of international bands, is in pursuance of annual military music shows scheduled to be hosted by ROHM during the month of November 2024 in celebration of this auspicious occasion.
On the Omani side, the performances are presented by musical bands of the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO), the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), in addition to the Royal Cavalry, the Royal Camel Corps, the Scout Music Band, and the RAO Infantry Team.
The festival offers an ideal opportunity to watch the precision of military marches and marvelous rhythms supported by bagpipes, drums, wind instruments and other tunes.
As a manifestation of Oman’s warm ties with other countries of the world and the country’s openness towards other cultures, the opening day of the festival this year saw the participation of musicians from Arab and friendly countries. These included performers from Jordan and Austria, which, both, presented traditional military shows peculiar to their respective musical heritage, typically distinguished for beautiful costumes.
This evening, the audience at ROHM watched displays of artistic skills performed by teams that marched in magnificent formations to the accompaniment of thrilling military music tunes.
In addition, percussion bands joined hands in presenting a concert that showcased a symbolic folklore of heritage segments performed by some of the most skilled Omani musicians.
