CYCLING – THE fifth edition of the Abdul Hakim Al Shammari Group Holding Cycling Race will take place early next year, it was announced yesterday.
The date of the event was confirmed during a meeting between Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) president Shaikh Dr Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Abdul Hakim Al Shammari Group Holding owner Abdul Hakim Al Shammari at the BCA headquarters in Riffa.
During their meeting, they discussed all administrative and technical matters relating to the staging of the road race, which will take place on February 15.
The route was also determined. It will be within the vicinity of Bilaj Al Jazayer in Zallaq.
Top national team riders from Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar are expected to compete, along with many other expatriate residents of those countries of various nationalities.
Also in attendance at yesterday’s meeting were senior officials from both the BCA and the company.
Bahrain national team rider Sayed Ahmed Khalil was crowned champion of last year’s race. Qatar’s Mohsen Arhaili was the runner-up while Saudi’s Ahmed Abdulla came third.
