FOOTBALL – THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) announced yesterday the launch of ticket sales later this week for Bahrain’s Fifa World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Japan, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday next week.
The game will be played at the National Stadium in Riffa and it will be the senior men’s national team’s second assignment in Group C.
Tickets are priced at BD10 apiece for category one seats, the BFA revealed yesterday. They can be purchased at the BFA headquarters in Riffa from Friday this week to Monday next week, between 8am and 2pm.
No other details were made available.
Meanwhile, BFA secretary general Rashed Alzaabi and senior men’s national team manager Mahmoud Reyadh made an inspection visit yesterday to the 28,000-capacity Robina Stadium, commercially known as Cbus Super Stadium, which will host Bahrain’s opening qualifier against Australia on Thursday.
Alzaabi and Reyadh had a tour of the facilities in order to determine any needs the national team may have for their upcoming contest.
Bahrain’s clash with the Australians is scheduled for a 1.10pm kick-off, Bahrain time, on Thursday.
The Bahrainis continued their training programme yesterday at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre grounds, under the supervision of head coach Dragan Talajic.
Talajic has a 27-player squad for the contest. They include Ali Madan, Komail Al Aswad, Mahdi Humaidan, Mohammed Jassim Marhoon, Jassim Al Shaikh, Hazza Ali, Amine Benaddi, Ahmed Nabeel, Hamad Shamsan, Ebrahim Luthfallah, Waleed Al Hayyam, Sayed Mahdi Baqer, Sayed Dhiya Saeed, Ali Haram, Abdulwahab Al Malood, Mahdi Abduljabbar, Ismaeel Abdullatif, Sayed Mohammed Jaafar, Ebrahim Al Khattal, Hussain Abdulkarim, Ahmed Al Sherooqi, Moses Atede, Abbas Al Asfour, Sayed Ahmed Al Wadaei, Vincent Emmanuel, Abdulla Al Khalasi, and Ammar Mohammed.
There are three groups in all in this qualifying phase, which continues until June of next year. Group A features Iran, Qatar, Uzbekistan, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan and North Korea; while Group B is composed of South Korea, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Palestine and Kuwait.
The top two finishers from each group will punch their tickets to the Fifa World Cup 2026 finals.
