CUE SPORTS – BAHRAIN’S snooker star Habib Sabah came away with a silver medal as part of Asia B in the World Confederation of Billiards Sports Championship 2024, held in Kielce, Poland.
Their squad finished as runners-up after bowing to Europe B 3-5 in the event’s final.
Play in the competition was held in four different games, including snooker, 10-ball pool, heyball, and carom three-cushion.
Prior to the title-decider, Sabah’s Asia B team defeated Asia A 5-4 in the semi-finals, while Europe B beat Africa and Rest of the World 7-1.
Asia A went on to claim the bronze medals after a 7-1 win against Africa and Rest of the World in the battle for third place.
Sabah’s teammates in Asia B were Vidya Pillai of India in women’s snooker, Bader Al Awadi of Kuwait and Seo Seoa of South Korea in 10-ball pool, Mohammed Reza Hassan of Malaysia and Narantuya Bayarsaikhan of Mongolia for heyball, and Ryuji Umeda of Japan and Kien Tuong Phung of Vietnam for carom three-cushion.
Teams vied for a share of the $140,000 total prize in the competition. Europe B pocketed $44,000 as champions.
