FOOTBALL – AL Ahli and Al Najma were both victorious last night as the fifth week of action continued in the 2024-25 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League.
Ahli came away with a 2-0 victory against Manama while Najma beat Al Shabab with a similar 2-0 score line.
In Ahli’s win, Angolan Paulo Miguel Quimbila opened their account after only two minutes. They were then only able to add their second in the fourth minute of second-half injury time, with Sayed Mahdi Sharaf on target.
With the result, Ahli claimed their second win in four matches as they improved to six points.
Manama were handed their third loss in five outings and remained winless with just two points.
Meanwhile, former Bahrain international striker Mohammed Al Romaihi netted a brace in Najma’s triumph against Shabab. He first scored in the 33rd minute and later secured his brace in the 93rd.
Najma posted their second win in five games and rose to seven points on the table, while Shabab lost for the second time and stayed on seven points themselves.
League action continues tonight with Sitra taking on East Riffa and Bahrain Club playing Malkiya. Both matches are scheduled for simultaneous 7pm kick-offs and they wrap up week five.
